Who: Lindsay Degen Site: http://degen-nyc.com/

1. I thought it was so sweet your parents were your inspirations for FW13. How does one translate genetics to knitting?
Initially I was trying to look at their old slides and duplicate the microscopic structures and systems of the human body into knitted stitches. As I got deeper into the season though, I started working with knitted structures that are both systematic enough and organic enough to look like the could relate to the microscopic imagery. So it was both actual duplication as well as my version. 2. I still remember, the first magazine that made an impression on me as a kid narrowing it down, I remember the first editorial that made an impression on me. This knitwear line called Cooperative Designs (Annalisa Dunn and Dorothy Haggeman) had a few pieces styled into this kind of grungy shoot. The models were posing on rocks. It wasn't really that amazing but it was the first time I thought of the knitting I was doing at home as something viable in the fashion community. 3. My high school years involved a lot of wishing I was not in highschool.
4. Now I get to work with Todd Selby, Converse, Gerlan Jeans!!! 5. I have a crush on the boss at Chromat ;) 6. I now live in BROOOOOOKLYN 7. What is your favorite word to knit on your undergarments?? haha ummmm YOLO...duh
8. What do you think about social media ? Over saturation or an outlet? Text based social media I find overwhelming. Networking based social media I find overwhelming. Im really into image based stuff like instagram though. 9. If you had to compare yourself to a women in the past who would it be? Grandma Bev DEGEN. 10. If you could leave us with one thought, what would it be? Hunger is the best sauce.
