I decided to be a Makeup Artist because I was good at doing makeup and I didn’t want to go to college. I was always fascinated by the fashion world and wanted to be a part of it somehow. I actually always wanted to be a Ballerina. I did classical ballet for 8 years. I danced in some of the top schools in the country and danced in a company in California. I decided to quit at 17 before I joined a bigger company because I lost the passion and decided it wasn’t the life I wanted to lead anymore. And I never looked back! I still remember, the first magazine that made an impression on me as a kid, it was my mom’s 100th anniversary issue of Vogue. All the supermodels were on the cover dressed in white on a ladder. It was shot by Patrick Demarchelier. The first magazine I ever did makeup for when I started my career was Nylon.
My high school years involved a lot of ballet, fashion phases, and raves. Now I get to work with the photographers that I once dreamed of working with. And I get to paint the faces of the most beautiful people in the world. When I was young I learned a lot about the world from books and movies. I now live in the lower east side in New York City. And I get to travel to amazing places from Paris to Romania to Japan! We are almost done here. I love….my family and close friends. They keep me sane and happy. I would be lost without them. Everyone thinks this of me as this “dark” girl because I wear a lot of black. But they would be surprised to know that my musical taste is super broad. AND that I have always had a soft spot for pop. It’s my guilty pleasure.
If you could leave us with one thought, what would it be?
Confidence is the most attractive thing you can possess. No matter what, own what you’ve got and make it work for you.
