Who: Titania Inglis Site: http://titaniainglis.com/

1. I am really excited for you next collection. What can you expect?
This season, I decided to play to my strong suits, and focused on taking the architectural forms, leather, and dimensionality of my past collections to the next level. I also took the collection in brand-new directions with the help of some of my talented friends, creating a jewelry/clothing hybrid collaboration with WXYZ Jewelry, and sleek linen sweater knits with Kordal Knitwear. 2. I still remember, the first magazine that made an impression on me as a kid Definitely Vogue, but I also loved National Geographic.>
4. Now I get to work with so many amazingly talented people, I can’t believe it. In addition to the collaborations I mentioned before, this season I worked with my friend Erin Lee on handbags, Ting Ting Qian - who’ll soon be launching her own line, look out! - on lingerie, accessory designer Andrew McAteer on leatherwork, and Forgotten City is doing my set design and wonderful Becka Diamond is deejaying. 5. I have a crush on Björk — the most wildly creative, independent thinker out there. 6. I now live in Williamsburg, which I thought was going to be annoying but I love it. 7. I know you try to run a positive impact company. Has that challenge gotten harder or easier since you started? Easier, in that the main challenge is in the sourcing, and as I go along, I discover more and more amazing resources and talented people and fascinating fabrics that I’m excited to work with.
8. What do you think about social media ? Over saturation or an outlet? I love social media, especially Instagram, since it’s so visual. It’s an amazing way to communicate directly with the line’s fans and to get instant feedback, but it can be all-consuming — it’s important that I make time to actually design instead of just posting pictures of myself designing. 9. If you had to compare yourself to a women in the past who would it be? don’t know if I’d compare myself with anyone, and it was difficult for women in the past to make a mark, but as for women in the present, I love Yoko Ono. She’s never cared what anyone thought, she just keeps on working to bring beauty and peace to the world in her unique Yoko way. Also, her hats are amazing. 10. If you could leave us with one thought, what would it be? Let’s make common sense less common and all think for ourselves instead.
